Ow my...

It's been a long time!

I have started my new 'grown-up job' (mon-fri 9/5.30) 2 weeks ago, and the weeks before that has been so mental that I dont even know where to start!  A big change for the household, and DS is been great waking up earlier just so I can drop him at creche before heading to work. DH has been wonderful too, helping with the chores and cooking (despite the food poising on the 3rd day he made dinner...)

These are what I managed to do in the past few weeks. Most of them where just waiting to be finished. I am trying to get as much as I can finished before New Year

A Special Card, for a Special Lady

It was Yvonne's birthday last Monday, and I couldnt get a card ready to send on time. However, a late card it is better than none, right?
Silly me posted this on a colouring Facebook page, and she saw it. Silly, silly me, spoilling the surprise.
Digi was free from the same group (Donna's Promarker group)

Happy Birthday Yvonne!

My TMNT Hat, on a Sunday Morning

Eddie wanted a new hat. Off to shop I went to buy wool and get ideas. The lady in the shop said the Ninja Turtles were back in trend, and a ball of green wool is what I bought :)

Pattern is the same as the Minions hat I did last year. Eddie didnt want the flaps on the back of the hat, which makes the hat a bit off but if that's what he wants, then that is what he gets... Specially when I was up at 7am on a Sunday to make this.

Dont mind his pjs, or the mess behind him... It was Sunday morning....

Christmas cards

This time last year I already had all my Christmas cards ready. This year is a disaster in comparison. So I have decided to attack my papers and stamp and work on it. Made about 20 cards in a day. I already had the images coloured so it was pretty much just to choose a sketch and work on paper matching. Easy right? Nooooooo......

And I still have another batch to make, but have to start colouring more :)

Stitching Bug is back! It is back!!

I havent done much stitching, or anything else lately apart from the blankets for the hospital, so I thought I needed to get started.

I have made several Christmas cards (will write a post soon on papercrafts) but most important is: I FINISHED ATW SAL!!! Didnt add the beads as I think there is a lot of bad stitches since it is a learning piece and maybe it would be a waste. Another thing that put me off adding bids is that Im not sure what Im gonna turn this piece into. If framing, beads are ok but what if something else comes along? Here it is:

And then I have started and finished this little guy this week. Because you know, it is never too early for Christmas :)

It is hat season again!!

I have been on a rollercoaster lately and havent done half of what i wanted to. This time last year i had all my xmas cards done, lots of atitching ready for pressies and lists of what was needed until the end of year. This is i have nothing and it annoys me. I need to start moving and find time to do what i really like to do: craft. Eddie has just started school so maybe a couple of mornings off will give me time to get something done.
Anyway, it is innocent hat time. Every year we knit/crochet small little hats for charity. You can find out more on innocent smoothie website. These are my first 3. I knitted them, which is something i wouldnt normally do but it was fun :)

Lots of things....

I havent touched my Blog account in a while. I like blogging even tho I dont have many followers, mainly because I can keep track of my work by using it. Said that, I should really updated it more often... I have been busy, very busy. DS had chicken pox which meant 1 week indoors. Weather wasnt great so it kinda helped not to feel guilty. Im off work until July, so nothing to worry about on that part too. So I left my creativity fly....

I have coloured lots of digis and stamps. Specially Xmas images...

I made this one for my Dad. It was his bday on the 5th and I thought this little girl looked like me when I was a teen. You see, Im dad's little princess :)

I bought these wooden pieces at the last crafty show in Belfast. I have attached the boots with red/white twine and it is perfect now.

This is my update on the 'Blue Family Tit'. 4 birds down, 4 to go.
And this is a small table cloth I made for my boss wife. They went on hols and he brought me 6 balls of cotton size 10 thread. It feels so good to work on light thread like this
And this was a freebie from Saturated Canary. I havent done anything with these coloured images yet.

And I just bought this one. He reminds me of my son. Eddie goes everywhere wearing his Superhero costume. He lost his cape recently so he is a bit upset, but mummy said she will find something for him.

I told you I have been busy :)

24h are not enough...

I have the 'Jack Bauer feeling'. 24h is not enough!
I am a mom and a wife (and by that please read: Iam a maid, a taxi driver, a cleaner, a personal shopper....),  I work part-time and I go to the gym 3 times week for a 45min routine (because my behind wont be firm by just eating cookies...). I try my best to cook from scratch and have the healthiest food in the house, which means a lot of cooking on my days off. We all go to bed quite early because our day starts before 7am. AND I like cross stitching, crochet, colouring, cardmaking and scrapbooking. And sometimes I wish my days were longer....

I am a NINJA, like all mums.

Most of the times, I jump from one project to another and I get upset if I cant start or finish something. It happened this week. I had this wonderful fabric I got at AppleTree Crafts for a Sewing Machine Cover and I went over, in my head, several times, on how to make it. Googled patterns and checked blogs for ideas. I knew what I wanted, just had to cut the fabric and put it together. I imagined on how and where to sew to make it perfect. I did it so many times that I couldnt sleep that night and I couldnt make/start it because the noise of my sewing machine would wake up son/hubby. The next morning I was tired, but full of ideas on how and where to start.

Look what my dinning table looks like when Im on full-creative-mode!!

And this is my finished cover (with side pockets and all!)

It really like it :)

Tablet Holder

This has been on my mind for quite a while now. But every pattern I found had too much cutting and sewing. And sewing is not one of my strongest skill, which I find it funny since every woman in my family is a dressmaking.

Got the pattern from MyPatchwork. If I had to do it again, and I can see myself doing at least another 2 for pressies, I would change a few steps.

1)Instead of trying to sew the big opening when the triangle bit is full, I would leave a small opening on the back (where the button is) instead. Then I can hand sew when it is full, rather than trying to fit the whole thing on my maching
2)Would do the same with the small cushion on the front. So my sewing steps would be: Sew the edges but leave one opening on the triangle bit and one on the front cushion. you can still turn the fabric inside out bu the whole on the back, providing it is a good size hole. Once turned, I would stitch the lines so they would be straight (I wont even show mine here, it is appalling....), fill it up and hand stitch it closed.

Trying to feed this through my not-very-sturdy sewing machine was a nightmare. Im very pleased with the final product but I know could have been better.

Updates

As I said previously, I havent been blogging but I have been busy. It's been such a productive month :)

I didnt stitch the snowflakes inside the inner rectangle on this one manly because Im lazy. Fabric is 14 count. Thread is perle 10. The snowflakes were so small and the fabric is so big that I couldnt carry the thread on the back which meant a lot of starting and finishing thread on a very small motiff. Still look good tho. (photo is not the best, really...)

This is my attempt on using my new dies. I have lots of that green paper and I hate it (not sure why...) So Im trying to use it all, including scraps on mens cards. The Magnolia stamp is so cute tho!

This is one of my drawings and my first time colouring her. I cant draw and Im very limited on what I can do. It takes me ages to come up with something like this. Her dress is pattern paper and she was coloured with Promarkers. I was thinking on having her as a bride and this was a test. I quite like her tho. Her could have been a bit more lighter (note to self..)

I will have another post on the Tablet Holder I made this weekend. So in love with it!
